Business Listing Packages

The Australian Organic Food Directory is an extensive and valuable resource for the Australian public. Whether people have been committed to eating organic for years or are just exploring the benefits of organic food this website provides what they need.

The overarching goal of the Directory is to support the Australian organic industry through information sharing and through the promotion of organic businesses. Since our inception we have provided free business listings in our directory.

We have found more and more that people are looking for more than the bare details of businesses in their bioregion. They are asking us which businesses stock bakery or deli items as well as fruit and vegies, where can they find certain organic foods, is the organic produce grown locally, what is the business' speciality, what services do they provide, how big are they, what are their opening hours - do they open weekends or for late night shopping, etc. etc. We don't have this level of information available for the hundreds of businesses listed in the Directory.

So, we are now asking businesses to help us meet the demand and provide this service to the public. To enrich and expand the directory in this way will take considerable time and although we have been happy to work for the organic industry as volunteers, the expanded workload simply means businesses need to support the Directory with a paid listing.

To enable as many organic businesses as possible to be listed, we will provide a free basic listing to businesses that are non-profit organisations. We will also provide discounts to some businesses on a case-by-case basis

Benefits to the public are obvious. Benefits to businesses are also obvious when you consider the following. The Australian Organic Food Directory has outstanding statistics for web traffic and it's continuing to grow. Figures to July 2008 show the web traffic (awstats) to the site is over 10,000 unique visitors a month (that is greater than 120,000/year) and more than 120,000 page views a month (>1,440,000/year). This demonstrates the huge demand that exists for an organic food directory and shows there is a great opportunity for businesses to be found by consumers.

The Directory will provide a range of opportunities for organic business to capture the interest of potential customers. To maximise exposure we recommend businesses use a number of these opportunities.

Business listing packages are currently available to businesses and in the next few months banner ads and newsletter ads will also be developed as additional options.

There are four business listing packages available:

• Basic Business Listing Package ($25 per year ex GST)

  The basic package is available to businesses of all sizes and types. The listing contains business name, address and contact details. These listings will be found with a search using the business name or a search for organic businesses by state, region and subregion.

• Standard Business Listing Package ($110 per year ex GST)

  The Standard package gives businesses greater exposure. In addition to the features of the basic package the standard package also allows businesses to enter a short description of their business. This short description is accessible through the site search with results linking directly to the individual business listing page. If the business has a website the link to the website will be included in all listings.

• Premium Business Listing Package ($280 per year ex GST)

  The Premium package provides even greater exposure. Along with the features of the standard package it includes the opportunity to describe or list the major products / services the business provides. These descriptions will be available through the site search. The size limit for this space is 5,000 characters.

• Gold Business Listing Package

  The Gold package is under development and may be available in the future!
